"The best compliment about Ecuador that comes to mind came from some friends of ours who were leaving after their week-long visit just as we were arriving for our vacation in this beautiful country. While we were at the Airport in Manta, our friends gave us a big hug and whispered into our ear, "Thank you for finding this place"

The truth is that we've been trying to find a place like this for a few years now.

Just a few weeks have gone by since we had spent 10 adventurous days in Ecuador. We cannot wait to go back and see more, even today if we could.

A round trip flight from Miami to Guayaquil (or Quito) costs less then $500 and takes only 4 hours to travel.

Yes, Ecuador is a real treasure.

It's a beautiful country with friendly people at each and every turn along with very affordable prices for goods and services as well as very attractive real estate.

If you like warm weather and the ocean, the best place to visit is the province of Manabi.

You can find the most beautiful beaches there in Ecuador. We feel very lucky to who have found Jorge Loor Zambrano through the assistance of the International Living website. We had been communicating with him for months before

visiting Ecuador. He responded to dozens of our emails and he never ignored not even 1 of our many questions. Trust me, we had plenty of them. He's intelligent, polite, trustworthy, loyal, and knows Ecuador very well, especially the province of Manabi.

When we arrived to Portoviejo (which is the capital of the province of Manabi), Jorge checked us into a very nice hotel where we stayed for almost a week and paid only $37 per night for a comfortable room in a very nice neighborhood. Jorge was our guide for 5 wonderful days in this beautiful coastal province. He helped us see more than a dozen properties from Manta to Bahia. Along our travels, he took us to a good restaurant where we paid only between 9 and 12 dollars for 6 people for some delicious food. Once we even had a shrimp dinner (which I believe were prongs) that were larger than some lobster tails I have had. They were huge. We also visited a jewelry than a coco-bean factory, a noni farm, and a beautiful church in Portoviejo. Jorge even came with us to Guayaquil from where we flew back to Florida. On our last day in Manabi, he helped us to see a doctor at one of the local modern Medical Clinic in his native city. I had some problems with kidney stones, but it took only 5 minutes to get into the emergency room where a very friendly doctor who was one of his friends checked me out. We were out of the hospital in 20 minutes after we paid the $15 emergency care fee and $1.24 for the medication without showing any insurance card, photo ID or passport.

What else we can say?

Of course we purchased a beachfront lot in this paradise and we're going to start building our dream house soon on Crucita beach. All of us fell in love with this fantastic country and will count the days until we can go back.

Finally, there is just one more reason to miss Ecuador, we have a very good friend down there and his name is Jorge Loor Zambrano!"
